Top 5 myths on porn and masturbation
We all have heard them once, maybe even used one of them. Here is why all of them are humbug!
NoFap won’t get you anywhere; severe hair loss, losing the ability to ejaculate, and full, hurting testicles are what to expect. Those are some of the fear-mongering effects most of you probably heard at least once. The symptoms some claim to be side effects of abstaining from porn and especially masturbation sound horrible. To someone uncertain about benefits and uninformed about scientific evidence, these claims can be reason enough to relapse. Or, even worse - to quit entirely.
Exactly this is why I am going to educate you about the 5 most common misconceptions regarding NoFap. To be fair, misconceptions probably is a term too friendly, as people who deliberately share such myths are nothing but liars.
#1: You‘ll lose the ability to cum
This actually is one of the most common reasons for people to fail and relapse. However, in this case, the claim does not come from outside, meaning not by people who want to discredit NoFap, but rather by themselves. Why?
Because most people who do not ejaculate for a longer time will reach a point where they get scared. “Is everything still working properly?” or “Am I still able to produce sperm at all?” are questions they ask themselves. In the worst case, they masturbate to find out, and relapse. There is absolutely no reason for that. You will neither lose the ability to produce sperm nor will your genitalia stop working. And funnily enough, those who tried can confirm this. There is no single case where someone lost any sexual ability due to NoFap. The opposite is the case.
#2: There are no benefits
Wrong. Wrong. Just wrong. Do not get distracted by frequent masturbators. They did not have the willpower and strength to push through what you currently are doing. It’s their fault to miss out on benefits.
Be wiser than they are. Your path is the right one, stay on it and experience the astonishing benefits. Haters gonna‘ hate.
#3: Masturbation is natural
Well, if “natural“ means animals practicing it too, masturbation indeed is natural. At least in some species. For example, some monkey species who can not find a mate do masturbate. However, this mainly applies to “losers”. Monkey with one or more mates do not masturbate in general. However, research on animals is thin and of semi-empirical nature. What is certain however, are the benefits we experience when staying abstinent. The longer your brain can adapt to this new normal of abstinance, the better.
#4: Porn does no harm
Do we need to talk about this? Speaking as a former porn addict, it is not only addictive but incredibly harmful. The fact that some NoFap improvements only appear after quitting pornography, further proves the point. The perception of women, your reward-mechanisms, and multiple vital pathways in your brain are affected by the consumption of porn.
Most of you know this, but if you have not read my articles on these topics, do so now!
#5: Havin’ Sex is forbidden
If not for religious purposes, it actually is not. If you practice semen retention, not ejaculating during sex can be common, but usually just over a time frame of a few weeks. However, you could have sex every day and still be on your streak on NoFap, if your objective is to quit masturbation and porn. Quitting sexual intercourse with a partner that loves you and vice versa never was an objective of NoFap.
Hopefully, with this article, I shut the voices of doubt in your head. No, you won’t lose the ability to cum, neither is masturbation “natural” and porn indeed is harmful. Remember these truths, do not let yourself get seduced by these easy excuses. You know better!
